OnePlus 6T is the successor of OnePlus 6 that was launched back in May 2018. The OnePlus 6T offers several additions over the OnePlus 6 model, such as in-display fingerprint scanner, a larger battery, a larger display, a smaller notch, improved low-light photography, runs on Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box and Smart Boost optimization. The OnePlus 6T foregoes the headphone jack which means a prominent removal and users have to rely on the USB Type-C port or Bluetooth for their audio pairing needs.
The OnePlus 6T comes in three variants and available in two colours. OnePlus 6T with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage variant cost US $549.00 (₹ 37,999.00) while the 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage variant cost US $579.00 (₹ 41,999.00) and the top-end 8GB RAM with 256GB internal storage variant cost US $629.00 (₹ 45,999.00). Design and Display
The OnePlus 6T features an all-glass build with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection and the notch on the display houses the front camera and sensors. The earpiece moves to the top edge of the device. According to the company, over 40 different steps go into crafting the 3D glass back and it is made from multiple layers of glass, it includes anti-glare coating and a texturized multilayer film. The OnePlus 6T measures 157.5×74.8×8.2mm and weigh 185 grams.
The OnePlus 6T in Mirror Black colour variant comes with glass back and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. According to the company, the glass not only increases durability but also created a 3D effect, accentuating OnePlus horizon line. The OnePlus 6T in Midnight Black colour variant also has a glass black but comes with a matte finish.
OnePlus 6T comes with LED notification light and the company says that the “lift-up display” that will allow users to conveniently read notifications from the lock screen. The OnePlus 6T also comes with daily water-resistance which means that the phone can withstand splashes and accidental spills but it doesn’t have IPS ratings.
The OnePlus 6T comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor and according to company claims it will unlock the smartphone in 0.43 seconds and it will work with OnePlus screen protector while the company doesn’t guarantee that it will work with a third-party protector or not. The fingerprint sensor is also self-learning, said to make it faster over time when identifying the same fingerprints. The company calls the in-display fingerprint sensor as “Sensor Unlock” and it can be used to quick launch apps using the customizable app shortcut bar. Apart from the in-display fingerprint sensor, the OnePlus 6T comes with face unlock and it unlocks the phone in 0.4 seconds.
The OnePlus comes with a single bottom firing speaker and it doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack which means you have to rely on the bundled USB Type-C to 3.5mm adapter bundled in the sales package, USB Type-C earphones (or company’s own Bullets Type-C headphones) or Bluetooth headphones.
The OnePlus 6T features 6.41-inch Full HD+ Optic AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, support for sRGB (100.63 percent) and DCI-P3 colour gamuts. There is a waterdrop-style notch on OnePlus 6T display that houses three-in-one ambient light sensor, distance and RGB sensor and a front-facing camera for selfie and video-calling. The OnePlus 6T has an 86% screen-to-body ratio, a sharp density of 402 PPI and said to have a peak brightness of over 600 nits. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6.
Performance and Storage
Under the hood, the OnePlus 6T is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC which is coupled with either 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and Adreno 630 GPU. The architecture based on Kryo 385 where four cores has a clocking speed of 2.8GHz while the other four cores have a clocking speed of 1.8GHz. This setup offers a smooth and seamless experience whether you’re multitasking, playing games for extended periods while the Adreno 630 GPU provide fast graphics. The OnePlus 6T comes with Smart Boost feature which is said to improve app cold-start speeds by up to 20 percent through storing data from frequently used apps in the phone’s RAM, it currently works with gaming apps with additional compatibility planned for the future.
The OnePlus 6T has 128GB/256GB internal storage which cannot be expanded further via microSD card.
Camera And Operating System
On the camera side, the OnePlus 6T has a dual rear camera setup that consists of a 16-megapixel Sony IMX519 sensor with a f/1.7 aperture, 1.22-micron pixels, OIS as well as EIS and 20-megapixel secondary with Sony IMX376K sensor with f/1.7 aperture and 1-micron pixels. It can shoot 4K video at 60fps, Super Slow Motion Video (1080p at 240fps and 720p at 480fps). A dual-LED flash accompanies the rear setup, while there is also IOS and EIS available.

The Nightscape mode recognizes night scenes and allows people to capture better details from photos shot in poor lighting conditions. The Nightscape mode produces brighter images in low-light with reduced noise, uses a new HDR algorithm across a 2-second exposure and splicing together the resultant up to 10 multi-frame shots together. Additionally, the company also improved the portrait photography mode on its new smartphone and has a new portrait mode called Studio Lightning.
The OnePlus 6T runs on Android 9.0 Pie with Oxygen OS on top of it and has support for Android’s full-screen gestures and the company claims that switching between recent apps is smooth. Users will be able to hide the notch with a UI setting, users will activate Google Assistant by long pressing the power button and the gaming mode is also there.
Connectivity and Battery
The OnePlus 6T has dual-SIM support and comes with connectivity features like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802ac (dual-band, 2.4GHz, and 5GHz), Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C (v2.0) port. The company is also touting the presence of Dirac HD Sound and Dirac Power Sound support.
The OnePlus 6T packs 3,700mAh battery with OnePlus Dash Charge (5V 4A) fast charging and said to deliver a full day of power in 30 minutes of charge. According to the company, OnePlus 6T has 23 percent better battery life than the OnePlus 6.
