The Microsoft Surface Headphones also have the Cortana integration for hands-free voice commands and lets you control your music, playing songs, joining meetings, surfing the internet, reading your emails, a conference call or set a reminder, etc. The on-ear dials can be used to adjust volume and touch controls for pausing music, skipping tracks, answer and end calls with a tap. The headphones also include dedicated power and mute buttons. Also, when you remove the headphones from the ears, it will automatically pause the music.
The Microsoft Surface Headphones slip comfortably over your ears and surround you with spectacular sound quality. The 40mm Free Edge drivers are designed to deliver optimized sound and for improved sound quality, it offers users “crisp” audio, operated by a physical dial, the frequency response of the device between 20Hz to 20kHz and sound pressure up to 115 dB. The over-the-ear headphones have a built-in noise cancellation feature and there are 13 different ambience sound level options, which allow you to get super granular with that adjustment. The ambience noise control can be controlled by using the dial on the left ear cup that offers up to 30dB active noise cancellation while the 40 dB passive noise cancellation. The left ear cup lets you adjust volume. There are 2 beam-forming microphones on each cup along with 8 microphones in total, all helping you to focus on the sounds you want to capture allowing for excellent call experiences.
To connect the devices, the Microsoft Surface Headphones can use Bluetooth or a detachable 3.5mm cable and the device will charge via a USB-C port. The 3.5mm USB-C connector can also be used for charging the device and it takes less than 2 hours to charge it and offers 15 hours of battery life on a single charge. The headphone is touted to deliver almost an hour of music in just five minutes of charge and if you turn Bluetooth off and plug in the included cable, you can get up to 50 hours of music playback.
The Microsoft Surface Headphones are compatible with Windows 10, iOS and MacOS. The Surface Headphones measure 204x195x48mm and weigh 290 grams (0.64 lbs).
